Antique Brass 4 Blade Bloodletting Fleam
Antique brass fleam once used for bloodletting in either veterinary or human use. It's likely a tool like this was used on a farm and may have been utilised for both purposes.
The triangular tip of the blade would be held over the vein of the patient and then the flat side would be hit with a fleam stick to draw the blood without causing too much extra injury.
This example has a brass handle and does exhibit some signs of age, and dates around 1800-1860.
Measures 9cm x 3cm when closed.
